Mission Summary

The inquest at DS9 does not go according to plan. Although Memory Theta's administrative team ran a solid defensive strategy against the tribunal, the scales seemed directly tipped against them. Before the inquest could finish, however, a group of Trill insurgents from the Trill Liberation Army seized control of the station, took the two admirals from the tribunal hostage, and demanded the release of their founding general.

After fighting their way to the Infirmary (Storr got injured in the fight), they formed a complicated rescue plan that required them to split up--Akiva and Cal went to Ops to overload the comms array or something in order to take out the interference that kept security teams from outside the station from beaming in, but Storr, Ari, and station security personnel had to go rescue the admirals first to make sure they weren't executed when security teams came beaming in. Storr and Ari were successful. Akiva and Cal were, too, but Karna was waiting for them in the control room where he got the upper hand with Cal and provoked the last vestiges of Jumik to come out of Cal's subconscious. It was revealed that Karna had instigated the TLA takeover in order to throw Memory Theta a bone and to make sure Fin wasn't going to rubbing elbows with a bloodthirsty Lethean ghost possessing Cal's body. Once Jumik and Karna came to an understanding, Karna fled the station, snuck onto the admiral's flagship, and killed the ringleader he had given access codes, schematics, and other tactical data so as to cover his tracks. Then, when all seemed good, the Phantom cruised by and beamed everyone but Akiva onboard.

The Phantom went on to a remote star system to track down an infamous plague doctor who was revealed to be the creator of a virus which turned the epigenetic condition of Corvan Dhampirism into a weaponized virus, working in conjunction with illegal corporate interests and a defunct Klingon minor house which sought to restore its honor and glory. Klingon zealots had interfered with the field team's investigation at nearly every turn (including a Vendorian mercenary who attempted to frame Mrazak for a political assassination on Corvus Prime), and they did not relent in their pursuit of the plague doctor as well. Doctor Santra of Bajor, an infamous collaborator with the occupying Cardassians, struck a deal with Mrazak to hand over his research and his live sample of the virus which was incubated within a young Corvan girl.

The Klingon Secret Inquisition wished to eradicate all traces of the virus which they saw as a repeat of the Klingon Augment Virus from the 22nd century. And so they deployed their flagship mounted with a superweapon capable of eradicating entire planets from spacetime. After erasing the planet where the plague doctor took refuge and narrowly escaped, the Klingon flagship engaged chroniton-powered transwarp toward the Theta-Corvus system in order to wipe out Corvus Prime and prevent the virus from ever existing. The Phantom gave chase and its crew managed to take down the superior vessel in a desperate boarding action that caused the Klingons to succumb to their own temporal technology.

Upon arrival to the Theta-Corvus system, the Memory Theta field team discovered that Administrator Akiva ben-Avram and Federation diplomat Gregorio Emanuel de Castillo-Bartes had lifted the quarantine on the system placed by Mrazak as well as proprietary corporate strangleholds on the planet, allowing the Corvans free access to their life-saving treatments that had been under strict control of the Ingram Group.

After returning to Overwatch Station, the mysterious Deputy Administrator assigned to Memory Theta turned out to be none other than Ari--she was being punished by the Taskmaster of her secret Intel operation. She has a spotlight on her now and can't participate in Operation Castermer field missions for the time being
